About the Campaign.
#momentsmatter is a three year, province-wide campaign that celebrates Alberta leaders who are taking a personal role in building positive and respectful workplace cultures that promote health and safety – and help stop sexual harassment.
The campaign is promoting a positive response to workplace sexual harassment and enhancing access to Alberta's One Line for Sexual Violence for specialized support and information.
In addition, we are developing anti-sexual harassment education that will be available in 2022. Sign up to be notified.
Who benefits?
Addressing sexual harassment is a part of workplace health and safety and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts that benefit organizations and employees.
What’s the evidence?
Despite efforts, sexual harassment remains a problem in Canadian workplaces. In Alberta, 1 in 5 workers have been sexually harassed.
Research shows that a positive culture is an important defence against sexual harassment.
Campaign Leadership
The Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services (AASAS) is a provincial non-profit umbrella association for sexual assault services in the province of Alberta that works to increase awareness of sexual violence and enhance access to services and supports to all Albertans impacted by this issue. The #momentsmatter campaign builds on the success of AASAS’s award winning #IBelieveYou campaign.
Justice Canada is the #momentsmatter campaign funder. To further its goal of “eliminating gender-based violence and harassment” the Government of Canada responded to public and stakeholder concerns relating to workplace sexual harassment by investing in programs to address sexual harassment in the workplace.
Other supporting partners include The Workers’ Resource Centre, Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre, and the Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta.
